This past week, our County experienced the Norte Fire in the San Clemente and San Juan Capistrano areas that burned 570 acres and damaged seven homes. Thanks to the mass mobilization of our Orange County Fire Authority, Sheriff's Department, and city fire departments, the fire stopped spreading after one day, and full containment was declared six days later. This is a testament to the professionalism and steadfastness of our fire departments and emergency response crews across Orange County, and their quick deployment saved thousands of homes from the fires. I am also immensely grateful to the Orange County Animal Response Team, which had 180 volunteers ready to help evacuate animals in the equestrian community. Thankfully, that wasn't needed, but I’m relieved they were prepared to take action. As we close out October and enter the El Niño season, I encourage all Orange County residents to take advantage of our county resources to prepare for the upcoming storms. Wishing everyone a Happy Halloween, Happy All Saints' Day, and Happy Veterans Day! |

Happy All Saints Day and All Souls Day to all the Christian faithful. On November 1, we honor all the Saints of the Church known and unknown. On November 2, we honor the souls of the faithful departed. Wishing all who celebrate a safe and spiritually uplifting Allhallowtide. |
November 10th is the 251st anniversary of the founding of the U.S. Marine Corps. For 251 years, the Marines have exemplified courage, sacrifice, and unwavering dedication to protecting our nation. Since its formation as the Continental Marines on November 10, 1775, the United States Marine Corps has stood on the front lines of history, embodying honor, courage, and commitment. To all who have worn the Eagle, Globe, and Anchor, thank you for your service. |

November 11 is Veterans Day, a day each year that we honor the men and women who made the selfless decision to defend our nation from threats, both foreign and domestic. From our nation’s humble beginnings at the Battle of Lexington and Concord and the “shot heard ‘round the world”, to the Battle of Gettysburg when our nation was torn apart in the Civil War, to the trenches of the Marne in France during World War I, and the beaches of Normandy and island hopping during World War II, from Korea to Vietnam, to the Persian Gulf, Afghanistan, Iraq, and Iran, Veterans of all conflicts from all generations and branches are remembered today for their valor and tireless commitment to defending the freedoms that we all hold so dearly, and in many cases, take for granted. Far too often, our Veterans are neglected, forgotten, and denied the quality services they deserve for the sacrifices they made for our country. Worse, they are sometimes even blamed for the foreign policy decisions of Washington politicians that are completely out of their control. Here in Orange County, we feel that our Veterans community is one of our greatest assets, and we will never forget their sacrifices. |
VISIT TO ORANGE COAST COLLEGE'S PRE-LAW CLUB |
I recently spoke to the Political Science Pre-Law Club at Orange Coast College. After sharing my journey through law school and my transition into the legal field, I found it incredibly rewarding to connect with the next generation of future attorneys. Best of luck to all these students in their academic and career pursuits! |
AMERICAN COUNCIL OF ENGINEERING COMPANIES RECEPTION |
I attended a reception hosted by the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC), Orange County Chapter, which represents private engineering and land surveying firms throughout the region. The chapter actively supports the local industry by hosting speaker luncheons, golf tournaments, and the annual Engineering Excellence Awards, as well as providing scholarships to undergraduate and graduate engineering students. Thank you to ACEC for hosting this event celebrating our engineers and land surveyors! |
EL NIÑO PREPAREDNESS TOWNHALL |
My Policy Advisor, George Boutros, represented my office at a town hall held at the Library of the Canyons. National Weather Service representatives presented this winter's El Niño forecast, while OC Public Works outlined what the County is doing to prepare for the winter storm season. Attendees also heard updates from AT&T and Southern California Edison. A big thanks to our partner agencies for putting together this event for our canyons community as we face the El Niño season. |
As a proud sponsor of this year’s Rancho Family Fest, I was pleased to have my District Director, Scott Voigts, and Field Representative, Al Tello, represent my office throughout the weekend. Despite the fall thunderstorms, hundreds of attendees came out to enjoy great music, wonderful food, and a fantastic community atmosphere. Rancho Family Fest always delivers an outstanding lineup of local bands making it a wonderful celebration for our community. Thank you, Rancho Santa Margarita, for another memorable Rancho Family Fest and a wonderful kickoff to the holiday season! |
YOBA LINDA STATE OF THE CITY |
Over 300 people attended the City of Yorba Linda's State of the City event, hosted by Mayor Carlos Rodriguez. The highlight of the event was recognizing Citizen of the Year Kathy Shanahan, a very active community volunteer. She and her husband Mike, himself a former Citizen of the Year, moved to Yorba Linda in 1991. Kathy has been quite involved in the Yorba Linda Girl Scout Service Unit, has mentored hundreds of girls, and coordinated the Rose Ceremony at the Yorba Linda Veterans Memorial every Memorial Day and Veterans Day since 2009.
At the event, the Mayor also gave both a verbal and video overview of the city’s achievements during the past 12 months.

It was an honor to once again be the title sponsor for the 38th Annual Walk Against Drugs and Disaster Preparedness Expo. My Community Outreach Director, Saga Conroy, and District Director, Scott Voigts, had a fantastic time at the kickoff ceremony and the walk to the fair. Scott and Saga presented a certificate of recognition to the keynote speaker, the talented Kayden Tokarski. At just 17, Kayden is a powerful voice against addiction and an incredible role model for young people. Thank you to the City of Mission Viejo and the Orange County Sheriff's Department for hosting such an important event to promote healthy lifestyles for our entire community. |

HERITAGE HILL HALLOWEEN WONDERLAND |
My district director, Scott Voigts, was brave enough to venture into OC Parks’ Heritage Hill Historical Park in Lake Forest! For years now during the two weekends before Halloween, Heritage Hill has been transformed into a Halloween wonderland, welcoming thousands of visitors for a spooky and unforgettable experience. This year, Scott joined thousands of Orange County residents who ventured into the park after dark to enjoy the festivities! It was an amazing time and a wonderful way to get into the Halloween spirit! Be sure to watch the OC Parks website for next year’s event announcement. It’s an experience you won’t want to miss!
