June has gotten off to a busy start! Last week, the AQMD Governing Board voted 7-5 to reject the proposed Rules 1111 and 1121. This decision means we can all breathe a sigh of relief knowing that crippling environmental regulations on our furnaces and water heaters won’t be taking effect. I’m proud to have raised the alarm on this issue last December during my time on the AQMD Governing Board, which helped build bipartisan opposition and ultimately led to the rules’ defeat. At Tuesday’s Board of Supervisors meeting, the Board supported the proposed 2025–26 budget. The total budget stands at $10.8 billion, of which only $1.2 billion are discretionary funds. Final approval is expected at the Board’s next meeting later this month. I look forward to the passage of this balanced budget, which ensures the continued delivery of essential county services to our constituents. With summer just around the corner, I’m excited for all the wonderful community events we have planned! Be sure to check out OC Park’s Summer Concert and Summer Cinema series, as well as the Silverado Summer Concert Series. Their schedules are listed below. |

SCAQMD BOARD OF DIRECTORS REJECT HARMFUL ENVIRNMENTAL RULES AFTER MASSIVE PUBLIC PRESSURE |
SCAQMD BOARD OF DIRECTORS REJECT HARMFUL ENVIRNMENTAL RULES AFTER MASSIVE PUBLIC PRESSURE |
On Friday, the South Coast AQMD Governing Board voted to reject proposed rules 1111 and 1121 on a 7-5 vote. The board heard the overwhelming opposition from homeowners, renters, businesses, and the rest of the public who would have been decimated by these rules. This is a victory for everyone in the Southern California region who support our housing industry and a strong quality of life. I am proud to have first raised the alarm over these rules during my time on the SCAQMD board and thank my former colleagues for their wise and responsive decision. The SCAQMD board avoided the implementation of financially crippling mandates to phase out gas water heaters and furnaces that would devastate people all over the region, especially right here in Orange County, without making significant gains in cleaner air. I want to thank all of my colleagues here in Orange County, including local elected officials, businesses, community organizations, homeowners and grass roots citizen groups and individuals in first pressuring SCAQMD to water down their rules, and ultimately to kill these rules altogether. Let me be clear. While this outcome is welcome and worthy of celebrating, the fact that this vote was so close is a clear reminder that we must remain vigilant in protecting the public from these types of destructive environmental mandate schemes dreamed up by unelected bureaucrats. Take a look at my interview with KCAL News from the day before the vote. |

On June 14th, 1777, the Second Continental Congress adopted the 13-starred “Betsy Ross Flag” as the official flag of the United States of America. 248 years later, our flag now has 50 beautiful stars as America has become the greatest nation in history. Wishing you all a happy Flag Day! |

US ARMY 250TH ANNIVERSARY |
US ARMY 250TH ANNIVERSARY |
250 years ago, on June 14, 1775, the Continental Army was formed two months after the Battles of Lexington and Concord. The “shot heard round the world” ushered in the American Revolution and the eight-year conflict that it took for us to achieve independence from Great Britain. That monumental act of establishing an army provided resolve behind America’s decision to declare sovereignty from a King who had abused his power for far too long. Since then, the US Army has evolved from a ragtag group of rebels striving for independence to the world’s most advanced and skilled fighting force, one that has more than once saved peoples and nations from the grip of tyranny. God bless all the soldiers of the US Army who have selflessly put their lives on the line to defend this great nation and ensure peace and prosperity not only at home but across the globe for the last 250 years. |

CITY OF HOPE KEY CEREMONY |
CITY OF HOPE KEY CEREMONY |
The City of Hope Orange County has officially received the keys to its new hospital building from Hensel Phelps, the builder, marking the successful completion of Orange County's first and only cancer specialty hospital, slated to open its doors later this year. Annette Walker, president of City of Hope Orange County, told the crowd that the massive project took 34 months to complete and amassed an impressive 1.2 million hours of work by the construction crew. To put that into perspective, if a single person had undertaken the project alone, it would have taken a staggering 577 years to finish. This project was launched in Irvine when I was Mayor. I am now honored to welcome the City of Hope to Orange County on behalf of the 630,000 residents I'm privileged to represent. |

Last Friday, I opened the Anaheim Chamber of Commerce Luncheon with an invocation, setting the tone for an inspiring afternoon at the iconic Angel Stadium. This year’s event highlighted a valued community partner — the Anaheim Family YMCA, which has been serving families across Anaheim since 1911. Their continued commitment to uplifting youth and strengthening our neighborhoods is a true testament to the power of community. Attendees also enjoyed a special conversation with Angels pitcher Ryan Zeferjahn, who shared insights from the mound in a conversation led by Angels Broadcaster Trent Rush. A memorable day celebrating local impact — all in the heart of Anaheim. |

June 6th was Donut Day! Its origins trace back to World War I, when the Salvation Army’s “Donut Lassies” served these sweet treats to soldiers. Today, National Donut Day is both a tribute to the Donut Lassies’ selfless service and a moment to honor the bravery of veterans. We had a wonderful time visiting donut makers in various cities—dedicated early risers who ensure we get to enjoy delicious donuts all year long. Hats off to these incredibly hardworking individuals who brighten our communities one delicious donut at a time! |
