As we close out on the month of June, the County is also closing out its fiscal year. I am proud to announce that Orange County has approved its tentative budget of $9.5 billion to continue providing vital services to our constituents. This budget demonstrates Orange County's dedication to managing finances responsibly, prioritizing efficient use of taxpayer dollars while focusing on essential services like public safety. I look forward to the Board meeting later this month, where we will finalize and approve this budget. |
Orange County Board of Supervisors Approved Balanced $9.5 Billion Tentative Budget (Santa Ana, CA) – At Tuesday’s annual budget meeting, the Orange County Board of Supervisors tentatively approved its budget for the next fiscal year. The County expects to receive final budget approval at the Supervisor’s June 25th meeting. The $9.5 billion budget, which adequately funds public safety and essential services, confirms the county’s ongoing commitment to fiscal responsibility and community safety. This budget reflects careful consideration of the county’s priorities and needs, ensuring that resources are allocated efficiently and effectively. "This budget demonstrates our continued dedication to fiscal prudence while prioritizing the needs of our residents,” said Don Wagner, Chairman of the Orange County Board of Supervisors. “The uncertain and mismanaged state budget presents us with substantial challenges and uncertainties of our own. But the Board and our staff have been diligent in watching the budget and disciplined in spending tax dollars. We are well positioned this year to weather Governor Newsom’s ever shifting promises and Sacramento’s fiscal failures. By responsibly managing our resources, we can continue to provide essential services and support the growth and prosperity of Orange County." This budget is a testament to Orange County’s commitment to fiscal responsibility, ensuring taxpayer dollars are utilized efficiently, maintaining a focus on public safety and other critical services. The Board's tentative approval of the budget marks a significant milestone in the county’s financial planning process. As Orange County continues to grow and evolve, this budget sets a solid foundation for future prosperity and success. |

I proudly sponsored the City of Mission Viejo's Annual Breakfast & State of the City with Mayor Trish Kelley, held by the Mission Viejo Chamber of Commerce. As both City Manager Dennis Wilberg and Assistant City Manager Keith Rattay are retiring soon, Mission Viejo welcomed newly appointed City Manager, Elaine Lister, a longtime Mission Viejo employee with a wealth of experience and passion for Mission Viejo. She has served in a variety of positions with the City, and has been serving as Director of Director of Community Development for the last 11 years, overseeing the divisions of planning and development, building and safety, economic development, and code enforcement. We thank Dennis and Keith for their dedicated service, and look forward to working with Elaine to serve our community! Lots of great news was shared at the breakfast, but the most exciting news was that Councilman Brian Goodell and Mayor Pro Tem Bob Ruesch will lead the Mission Viejo Delegation to attend the 2024 Olympics in Paris as part of the city's effort to bring teams and activities to Orange County as part of the 2028 LA Olympics. We wish them a safe trip and can’t wait to hear more that they bring back to OC! |

COMMUNITY FOUNDATION OF ORANGE ANNUAL GALA |
The Community Foundation of Orange (CFO) held its annual gala to honor Love Orange and its director, Ric Olsen. The event was sold out with 300 people attending in the lovely garden setting of Grand Gimeno. Both the live and silent auctions were a great success which gives financial support to CFO. Since 2002, CFO has invested more that $2.5 million in programs and over $225,000 in grants to create a lasting resource, building civic investment and community involvement. My field representative, Pat Buttress, presented a certificate on my behalf to Ric Olsen. Love Orange, founded in 2012 with the intent to bring together community partners in year round service projects to show their love for the City of Orange. The Annual City-Wide Volunteer Day connects residents of Orange with one another, fosters civic pride, makes a difference in tangible ways and leads to ongoing involvement by volunteers throughout the year. |
