These last two weeks have been incredibly productive! Last week, along with my Board colleagues, I participated in the ribbon-cutting and grand opening of the OC Health Care Agency's new Marine Way Campus in Irvine. This location will give our residents even greater access to the incredible healthcare services that our Health Care Agency offers, and provide our medical professionals the most advanced scientific tools available to diagnose and treat public health threats. I also took part in the I-5 South County Improvement Project dedication event in Mission Viejo last week. This project added general-purpose lanes, extended carpool lanes and rebuilt major interchanges to improve traffic flow. These improvements will save time for our commuters and increase our region's local economic vitality. Lastly, the Board recognized April as National Donate Life Month, when we honor the selfless acts of donors and the life-saving impacts of organ, eye, and tissue donation. April has been a productive month, and I look forward to May! |

Supervisor Don Wagner and Orange County Board of Supervisors Celebrate National Donate Life Month (Santa Ana, CA) – Supervisor Don Wagner and the Orange County Board of Supervisors recognized April as National Donate Life Month, a time dedicated to honoring the generosity of donors and the life-saving impact of organ, eye, and tissue donation. National Donate Life Month, initiated by Donate Life America, highlights the invaluable role of Department of Motor Vehicles and Driver License Partners in advancing the mission of organ donation. This month serves as a token of appreciation for their unwavering dedication to the cause of saving lives. “I know personally that a donation of life does not come close to easing the pain of the loss of a loved one,” said Supervisor Wagner. “But it does leave one lasting and enduring memory: that of helping other human beings. And that is priceless – like the gift of life.” DMV staff across the country play a pivotal role by asking donor registration question to customers daily, thus providing individuals with the opportunity to express their willingness to be organ donors upon their passing. Through these interactions, partnerships with DMVs have become the cornerstone of state donor registration efforts, resulting in over 170 million donor registrations in the United States. For more information about organ donation and how to get involved, visit www.donatelife.net. |

Last week, I joined Jen and Grant on The Morning Answer to discuss Assemblyman Carl DeMaio’s common sense voter ID bill that was killed in committee last week, the subsequent ballot initiative to implement the same policies, and polling showing overwhelming popular support. |

I-5 SOUTH COUNTY IMPROVEMENTS PROJECT DEDICATION EVENT |
Last week, I had the honor of speaking at the I-5 South County Improvements Project Dedication event in the thriving Third District city of Mission Viejo. As a Director on the Orange County Transportation Authority, it's essential that we remain attentive to the needs of commuters and adapt to changes in traffic patterns within our community. For this project, OCTA added general-purpose lanes, extended carpool lanes, and rebuilt major interchanges to improve traffic flow. These improvements will not only save time for our residents but also boost the region's economic vitality. I’m excited to see these developments come to life, ensuring our drivers have a safer and more efficient commute. |

Last week, I participated in the Lake Forest State of the City, where I provided the invocation. It was great connecting with community members, hearing from Mayor Scott Voigts, and celebrating everything that makes Lake Forest such a vibrant place to live and do business. I'm delighted to represent such a wonderful community on the Board of Supervisors. |

I had the honor of speaking at the celebration of life for Mary Aileen Matheis—a devoted member of the Orange County Assessment Appeals Board, a steadfast public servant, an accomplished attorney, a respected realtor, and a loving mother of seven. Mary Aileen is widely recognized for her remarkable 32 years of dedicated public service on the Irvine Ranch Water District Board of Directors. After raising her family, she pursued her passion for law, earning a degree from Western State College of Law and beginning her career as a practicing attorney in 1982. Mary Aileen, a long-standing member of the California Association of Realtors, was a highly regarded real estate professional who earned the prestigious title of “Realtor of the Year” from the state-wide organization and received the same honor three times from the local chapter. Her lasting contributions are proudly commemorated on the National Association of Realtors Wall of Honor in Washington, D.C. As Orange County Supervisor, I had the privilege of appointing Mary Aileen to the Orange County Assessment Appeals Board, an agency responsible for reviewing taxpayer appeals for property tax adjustments. Her outstanding contributions earned her the esteemed “Volunteer of the Year” award. I am truly grateful to have known Mary Aileen. She was an extraordinary person whose dedication helped make Orange County a better place to live. |

ANNUAL PANCAKE BREAKFAST AT VILLA PARK HIGH SCHOOL |
I had a great time attending the annual Pancake Breakfast at Villa Park High School, hosted by the Villa Park Community Services Foundation! I was joined by my Chief of Staff, Tara Campbell, and Field Representative, Pat Buttress. This year's event was a fantastic success, with an impressive turnout of students, families, and community members all coming together in support of the Foundation. A big thank you to the Villa Park Rotary Club for handling the catering — they did an excellent job! It was also wonderful to see Congresswoman Young Kim, the Mayor, and members of the Villa Park City Council in attendance. Events like this truly showcase the strength and spirit of our community! |

OC RESCUE MISSION GRADUATION CEREMONY |

I was deeply honored to deliver the keynote address at the Orange County Rescue Mission's graduation ceremony, held at the Village of Hope, celebrating the remarkable achievements of ten individuals who have overcome homelessness. That’s me pictured with Bryan Crain, President of the Orange County Rescue Mission, who presented me with an actual longsword so that I would continue to be a warrior for their organization. I was profoundly moved by the powerful stories shared by the graduates, detailing the desperate challenges they once faced and the strength they demonstrated to overcome them. Approximately 85% of people who have completed the Orange County Rescue Mission’s two-year program have remained both clean and employed to-date since 2018. Orange County Rescue Mission is a faith-based, life-transformation program that provides on-campus housing, basic needs, and comprehensive services for individuals and families experiencing homelessness.
