Thank you for subscribing to my newsletter. Please share it with any of your friends who might be interested in the county and what we can do to be helpful. As we return from Thanksgiving and close out the year, I am proud of my office and the County's accomplishments over the last 12 months. I'm looking forward to this weekend's Trout Fishing Derby, which I encourage all residents to attend. It's a free, fun opportunity for our community to get together and enjoy our beautiful Irvine Lake. I'm also excited for this year's Orange County Hall of Fame, inducting ten new Orange County legends to be recognized for their talents. Last year's inaugural class was a great success, and I look forward to celebrating the class of 2025! |

December 7th marks 84 years since the attack on Naval Station Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, a day that will live in infamy. This attack by the naval and air forces of the Empire of Japan was the catalyst to the US entering the Second World War. We honor the 2,403 American lives lost as a result of the attack, and must always remember the sacrifices our service members made on that fateful day. |

December 15th is the 234th anniversary of the ratification of the United States Bill of Rights, the first ten amendments to the Constitution. Thanks to the efforts of Presidents Thomas Jefferson and James Madison, who were convinced that the original Constitution did not sufficiently protect our rights, we have these first ten amendments that are vital to the protection of the freedoms. Happy Bill of Rights Day! |

VETERANS CEMETARY HEARING |
VETERANS CEMETARY HEARING |
I joined the hearing at the Anaheim City Council chambers hosted by Assemblywoman Sharon Quirk-Silva on the progress of the Veterans Cemetary in Gypsum Canyon. I spoke to the audience on how Orange County has done everything required to move this project forward. We secured the land, dedicated $20 million, and earned the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs’ confirmation that Gypsum Canyon meets every federal standard. The only remaining step is for the state to take ownership of the property. As the VA has made clear, the state doesn’t need to wait for federal funds. Taking ownership now is what unlocks those funds. Our veterans have waited long enough. Working together with all our federal, state and local partners, we can finally get shovels in the ground and deliver the dignified, long-promised resting place our veterans and their families deserve. |

CRAWFORD CANYON PARK RIBBON CUTTING |
CRAWFORD CANYON PARK RIBBON CUTTING |
 |
On Thursday, November 20th, my grandkids and I cut the ribbon for the grand opening of Crawford Canyon Park in North Tustin, adding yet another amazing park to be explored by Orange County’s residents. This new 2.5-acre park includes two nature-themed playgrounds, a quarter-mile walkway, exercise stations, large grassy space, 11 parking spaces, a wood pedestrian bridge, picnic tables and more. Exterior sidewalk improvements allow for easy park access from nearby communities. The park’s carefully planned landscape includes native and drought-tolerant trees including coast live oaks, western sycamores, and California pepper trees, which will provide future shade and a natural park aesthetic. Crawford Canyon Park will be open daily from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the fall and winter and from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. in the spring and summer. I want to thank Orange County District Attorney Todd Spitzer, OCCR Director Dylan Wright, Orange County Parks Director Pam Passow, OC Public Works County Engineer Edward Frondoso, OC Public Works Project Manager Adam Ramos, OC Parks Commissioners Dave Hanson, Ray Diaz and John Warren, and Rick Nelson with Foothills Community Association for all their hard work on making this park a reality for the community. |

I joined Tustin Mayor Austin Lumbard for the 28th Annual Tustin Mayor’s Thanksgiving Breakfast. Ambassador Gaddi Vasquez served as the keynote speaker, while I introduced the Mayor to the attendees. Its always an honor to be a sponsor for this annual event, which has raised over $1 million over the years in grants for 369 Tusin non-profits and schools to support classrooms, families and seniors, arts and athletics, helping meet the community’s needs every day. I want to thank Mayor Lumbard and the Tustin Community Foundation for hosting yet another wonderful Thanksgiving Breakfast. |

BUILDING INDUSTRY ASSOCIATION- OC CHAPTER ANNUAL INSTALLATION GALA |
BUILDING INDUSTRY ASSOCIATION- OC CHAPTER ANNUAL INSTALLATION GALA |
At the Building Industry Association - Orange County Chapter’s annual installation gala, I had the honor of presenting a resolution to outgoing Chapter President Megan Eltringham, recognizing her outstanding leadership and dedication over the past year. California continues to grapple with a severe housing shortage, stemming from decades of underproduction that has failed to keep pace with the needs of our growing population. As housing affordability slips further out of reach for many families, some are left with no choice but to seek opportunities in other states, like Texas. To reverse this trend, we must make housing production a top priority. Congratulations and best wishes to Joe Oftelie, the incoming Chapter President. I look forward to working together to support policies that promote smart growth, affordability, and a stronger future for all Californians. |

SANDBAG AND WATTLE GIVEAWAY |
I recently hosted a sandbag and wattle giveaway event in the Third District to provide more resources to our residents for the upcoming rainy season. Throughout the event, we distributed approximately 370 sandbags, and 25 wattles, all of which will go a long way in protecting properties from storm related damage. Thank you to OC Public Works, and OC Waste & Recycling, for partnering with my office to provide this important resource for our residents. |
