Thank you for subscribing to my newsletter. Please share it with any of your friends who might be interested in the county and what we can do to be helpful. The Orange County coast has been hit hard by Hurricane Rachel. While the Third District came through quite well, it is important that communities prepare themselves for inclement weather. With the El Niño storms having arrived, the county has created a dedicated website with information about storm impacts and available resources. My office, alongside OC Public Works, is also hosting free sandbag and wattle giveaway in preparation for the upcoming storm season. See the below "Mark Your Calendars" section for more information on both. Wishing you all a wonderful October! |

This month, we honor Leif Erikson, the Norse explorer who set sail across the Atlantic and became one of the first Europeans to reach North America. His courage, curiosity, and spirit of discovery remind us to always explore beyond the horizon. |
On Columbus Day, we celebrate the daring voyage of Christopher Columbus, whose journey across the Atlantic in 1492 helped shape the course of world history. Beyond honoring the explorer himself, this day is also a celebration of Italian- American heritage, a recognition of the countless contributions Italian-Americans have made to our culture, communities, and nation.
Happy Columbus Day!

Happy 251st Birthday to the US Navy! On October 13th, 1775, the Continental Navy was founded. John Adams, then Delegate from Massachusetts to the Continental Congress, and later the second President of the United States, served as its first Secretary of the Navy, then known as “Chairman of the Marine Committee”. The US Navy has since become the most formidable naval fighting force in the world, testament to the patriotism, innovation, and bravery of the sailors that made that commitment to the defense of our nation. |
Since 1957, Tustin Tiller Days has annually celebrated the area’s rich agricultural heritage, and this year’s was another wonderful community celebration! I had a great time participating in the Tiller Days Parade, joining hundreds of other participants, including high school bands, cheer teams, ROTC, local businesses, Tustin elected officials, and committee members. I want to congratulate Mr. Tustin, David Flynn, a former neighbor of mine, and Tustin’s Man and Woman of the Year, Jeff and Kelly Meyers, on their well-deserved honors. It was a fun event filled with community spirit, tradition, and Tustin pride! |
CONCORDIA UNIVERSITY 50TH ANNIVERSARY |
I recently joined Concordia University for its 50th Anniversary, where I presented a certificate of recognition. This institution has been a major influence in Orange County’s education system and has provided a robust faith-centered education to its students. We are incredibly grateful for the 50 years of excellence it has provided to so many generations of young people. A big thanks to University President, Michael A. Thomas, and all the wonderful faculty at Concordia for hosting this event. Here’s to another 50 years! |
PACIFIC CONSERVATORY OF ORANGE 25TH ANNIVERSARY |
Recently, I had the opportunity to present to Kim Le a proclamation thanking her for her 10 years as owner of the Pacific Conservatory of Orange. The proclamation is a celebration of dual anniversaries: thirty-six years since the establishment of the Pacific Conservatory and ten years of Kim Le’s leadership. Kim has given countless lessons, performances, and developed friendships over her 25 years with Pacific Conservatory. She was a teacher at the conservatory from 2001 to 2016 prior to becoming the owner. Kim is also my appointee to the John Wayne Airport Arts Commission and currently serves as its chair. |

NATIONAL COFFEE WITH A COP DAY |
Last Thursday was a brew‑tiful morning celebrating National Coffee with a Cop Day! The event offered a wonderful opportunity for members of the public to connect with our local police officers. Pictured are my Field Representative, Al Tello, and Irvine Police Department Chief Michael Kent, who is a strong proponent of community policing. For many years, the City of Irvine has consistently ranked among the safest places to live in the nation. This didn’t happen by accident. It is the result of dedicated leadership, strong community partnerships, and a steadfast commitment to proactive, community‑oriented policing. |
