Memorial Day is a time to honor and remember the brave men and women who have sacrificed their lives in service to our country. It is a day to reflect on the freedoms which were made possible by those sacrifices. Chairman Wagner joined members of the community in Memorial Day ceremonies throughout the Third District, paying tribute to our fallen heroes and showing gratitude for their service and sacrifice. These ceremonies remind us of the importance of service and sacrifice, and inspire us to continue fighting for the freedoms for which these heroes fought and died.

IRVINE LAKE

For years Irvine Lake had been closed to the public. When Chairman Wagner was elected to the Board of Supervisors in 2019, he immediately got to work and secured an agreement to reopen Irvine Lake to our county residents! Since then, thousands of visitors have shared the joy of fishing with their families. At the most recent Board of Supervisor's meeting, Chairman Wagner and the Board extended shoreline fishing operations to continue the memories made at Irvine Lake. Stay tuned for Chairman Wagner's annual fishing derby coming in late 2023.

DROWNING PREVENTION

Drowning is one of the leading causes of death worldwide, particularly among children. This past week, Chairman Wagner and the team participated in the Water Safety Challenge and recognized multiple organizations in our community who work tirelessly to prevent drownings through education, awareness, and safety measures. Organizations like the Jasper Ray Foundation and Blue Buoy Swim School play a vital role in spreading awareness about the dangers of water and providing resources to help prevent drowning incidents. Their work helps to save countless lives every year. Together, we can make a difference in protecting ourselves and our loved ones from drowning incidents.

OUR BUSINESS COMMUNITY

A strong business community is critical to the vitality of Orange County.  Chairman Wagner spoke to numerous local business organizations, including the Tustin Chamber of Commerce, Anaheim Chamber of Commerce and Orange County Business Council, about the current state of our county and the immense value that local businesses bring to our economy. It was encouraging to see such a strong turnout of passionate business leaders who are dedicated to making a difference in our community.
