I was also honored to co-chair the Southern California Leadership Council meeting with former Governor Gray Davis, where regional leaders gathered to discuss mutual issues facing our communities across Southern California. Lastly, I was happy to join the Newport Beach Chamber of Commerce and Supervisor Katrina Foley for its annual State of the County discussion to update the business community on recent developments in Orange County. It has been a productive month so far, and I look forward to the rest of the summer season! |

(Santa Ana, CA) – On Wednesday, August 12, the County’s independent contracted auditor, Weaver and Tidwell, completed Phase 2 of the forensic audit of County contracts, especially including those involving disgraced former Supervisor Andrew Do. Phase 2 of the investigation inspected over 680 contracts, totaling in $1.7 billion. In that review, five contracts were flagged for scrutiny. Supervisor Wagner is grateful for the work that was put into Phase 2 of the independent external forensic audit. “Weaver and Tidwell’s investigations have uncovered further questionable details about contracts that Supervisor Do was involved in during his time on the Board,” said Supervisor Wagner. “I appreciate the work of Weaver and Tidwell, and our Internal Audit Office, in uncovering potential additional abuses of taxpayers’ dollars in our county government. The Board and I want to ensure that we take all precautions to safeguard our county from this ever happening again. I look forward to continuing with Phase 3 of the forensic audit, ensuring that we have caught every malfeasance by Supervisor Do and any of his affiliates.” Supervisor Wagner remains committed to upholding transparency and accountability throughout this process and will continue to keep the public informed as new developments arise. |

The Southern California Leadership Council brings together government, business, and community leaders to advance the region’s economic vitality and quality of life. During this meeting, members discussed wildfire recovery, rebuilding, and long-term resiliency, including updates from state legislators on California’s insurance challenges and insights from fire chiefs on wildfire prevention and emergency response. The Council also explored key economic sectors and opportunities that will help strengthen Southern California’s regional economy and create pathways for continued growth. Thank you to all our regional partners for participating in such an important meeting to discuss issues facing Southern California. |

My office allocated $100,000 to the City of Mission Viejo for its Olympic initiatives in preparation of the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games. I was honored to present the check to Mayor Wendy Bucknam at the city’s Symphony in the City event this past Saturday with the Pacific Symphony Orchestra. I was also a sponsor of the Symphony in the City event where the theme was USA 250. I look forward to seeing Olympic events and viewing parties take place right here in Orange County in two years! |

Late last month, I joined newly appointed US Ambassador to South Korea, Michelle Steel, for her Farewell Dinner before she left to represent our country’s interests abroad. I am beyond proud of Michelle, with whom I had the honor of serving on the Board of Supervisors, and also got to see firsthand how well she represented Orange County in the US House of Representatives. I have no doubt that she will serve us well as our Ambassador to South Korea. |

My District Director, Scott Voigts, and Community Outreach Director, Saga Conroy, joined the Mission Viejo Chamber of Commerce for an exclusive look behind the scenes of the Orange County Sheriff's Department's Mission Viejo station. This tour offered an incredible perspective on the technology, coordination, and public safety operations that keep Mission Viejo and our entire county secure. Seeing firsthand how intelligence, emergency response, and advanced technology come together was eye-opening. Key highlights included: -OCSD Real-Time Operation Center -Orange County Intelligence Assessment Center -The future OCSD Dispatch location -OCSD Technology Center A big thank you to the OCSD team for their transparency and for the vital work they do every day to protect our families. We are blessed to have such a dedicated, innovative team protecting our community. |

I’m lucky to have fabulous college interns who helped staff our booth and greeted everyone who stopped by. Every year, the Mariachi Nationals and Summer Institute welcomes students from across the country to study with—and perform for—some of the finest professional mariachis and educators in the nation. This annual event is organized by the Mariachi Heritage Society, a non-profit organization founded in 1991 by Grammy-nominated musician and Orange County resident José Hernández, to teach mariachi music, including its history and how to sing and play instruments, to students ages 7 to 18. My Field Representative, Al Tello stopped in at one of the workshops. That’s him pictured holding a guitarrón, a classic mariachi instrument. The culmination of this weeklong event is the pageantry of the finals competition performances held at the Orange County Fair. |
