As we close out November and enter into December, I look forward to a final productive month to 2023.

We continue to work with our local partners and agencies to mitigate the fallout from the Tustin Hangar Incident. Asbestos mediation efforts are underway, and what usually takes months is being done in days. While this incident has been a challenge for everyone involved, I am proud of the collaboration efforts that all involved have taken to ensure the safety of the communities surrounding the hangar.

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving with their loved ones, and I look forward to the many holiday activities as we approach the new year.

NATIONAL NURSE PRACTITIONERS WEEK

At the November 28th Board of Supervisors meeting, the Board joined me in recognizing November 12-18th as National Nurse Practitioner Week.

Nurse practitioners, also referred to as “NPs,” serve as trusted frontline providers of health care for patients in California.

There are 270,000 licensed nurse practitioners in the United States and over 30,000 in California, providing primary, acute, and specialty care to patients of all ages and walks of life.

In recognition of the countless contributions that nurse practitioners have made over the past half-century, and will continue to make, to the health and well-being of citizens in our County, my colleagues and I are proud to recognize November 12th – 18th, 2023 as Nurse Practitioner Week in the County of Orange.

Thank you to all our invaluable nurse practitioners in Orange County who are dedicated to the health and wellness of our residents.

YORBA LINDA SAFETY ZONE

Email Image

I joined OC Sheriff Don Barnes, Yorba Linda Mayor Gene Hernandez, Mayor Pro Tem Tara Campbell, and Councilwoman Janice Lim for the Safety Zone Ribbon Cutting at the OCSD station in Yorba Linda.

This designated safe zone in the parking lot of the OCSD substation parking lot will be illuminated throughout the night and equipped with safety cameras. This zone allows for more peace of mind in completing e-commerce transactions, child custody and visitation transfers, and other transactions. The well lighted, secure zones on the grounds of the OCSD station acts as a deterrent to any ill-intentioned individuals. These spaces offer a sense of security beyond what one would expect under normal circumstances.

This is the second safe zone I have opened at our Sheriff's substations throughout the county, the first being Lake Forest. I am proud to have spearheaded this initiative to further ensure the safety of our residents.

Thank you, OCSD, for always prioritizing the safety of our citizens.
